Knowledge Is Power
Our goal is to arm parents with as much knowledge as possible to combat the ideological subversion that is being forced on our children. Initially, we intended to provide parents with a comprehensive opt-out form that focused on Leader In Me prior to school starting for the 2023-2024 school year, however, we’ve switched gears. Given the lack of action taken by many school districts in St. Charles County, we felt it was imperative to provide a master opt-out form that covers EVERYTHING. With the help of one extremely dedicated parent (Candice, you’re amazing) that put countless hours into researching and preparing this template, we can now present you with #Operation Opt-Out. No more unnecessary SEL, third-party testing, intrusive surveys, and harmful presentations. No more school-provided medical services. No more violations of privacy in bathrooms and locker rooms.
Here’s What The Opt Out Template Covers:
*Please Note – We recommend that you opt out each child individually. This template can be customized to fit your family’s needs. Please CONTACT US if you would like this template in a different format to edit.
*Another Note – We recommend downloading the template designated to YOUR district as they differ. Some district’s removed the words “women/female” from their policy. (Weird!) Here’s a list with links to the policies if you would like to compare/contrast:

What is Leader In Me?
Program Basics – What you need to know & why you should fight back
Leader In Me Overview
The Leader in Me is a curriculum program based on philosophy that schools are taught to weave into every aspect of the school day. We are told that the Leader in Me program is not a curriculum, but the website states otherwise. There are various places on the vendor’s website that state that is, in fact, a curriculum.
The instructional method used pushes a school culture model in which students learn Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Happy Kids, a spin-off from his original book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The program also encourages students to set and track personal goals and to take leadership roles whenever possible. In Leader in Me schools, students are often the ones who run the assemblies and programs, give guided tours around the building, and generally take on many of the responsibilities that were once the exclusive domain of teachers and administrators.
Based on the what we have seen from the Leader In Me pilots, this curriculum program influences schools to make dangerous decisions regarding our children’s safety, encourages unethical testing practices, and takes away much needed and mandated instructional time from our childrens’ education. Now it’s about to be implemented district wide in Wentzville grades K-12.
We encourage every parent to do their due diligence and research this program themselves to ensure that this is a fight that they are willing to take on. A great resource to use to get started is The Cult of Pedagogy. If you are feeling frosty, check out Reddit, too. Happy Hunting!
So what’s our beef?
What’s so different about Leader In Me?
With Wentzville School District specifically, our newly elected board fought hard to nip this program in the bud. Unfortunately, they did not have the votes to protect our children from this insanity. Given the level that this program is integrated into literally EVERYTHING, it is going to be nearly impossible to opt your child out. It’s also going to be nearly impossible for any district to meet DESE’s standards which impacts the district’s accreditation rating…. and also your property value. If that’s not disturbing enough, Leader In Me is driven by iReady testing. In one elementary school that was used as a pilot, we were informed that the students were tested TWICE in order to get the desired results to satisfy the program. Are you kidding me?!? If that’s still not enough, have a look at the schedule for the first eight days of school….

Still not conviced?
Still not convinced? This program destroys EVERY district’s discipline policy with restorative practices. In the pilot school mentioned above, the teachers were instructed to simply not record any behavior issues to make the program appear WONDERFUL, however the teachers have seen extreme spikes in behavior. One even being assaulted! There are teachers that STRONGLY oppose this program, but are muzzled due to fear of retaliation.
